Equipment: SOFIMO Industrial Portable Power Station

Reliable Lighting for Night Construction

During the construction of metro, crews carried out underground utility excavation at night.

With excavators and workers operating around open trenches, adequate lighting was essential for maintaining visibility across excavation areas, equipment operating zones, and surrounding workspaces.

For urban metro projects, temporary lighting often needs to be repositioned as construction progresses. Connecting to distant power sources or installing long temporary cables can add time and complexity to site preparation.

Portable Battery Power for On-Site Lighting

At this project site, a SOFIMO industrial portable power station was positioned near the excavation area and connected directly to a multi-head LED lighting tower.

Powered by its built-in battery, the unit supplied electricity without requiring a continuous grid connection or a separate diesel generator. Crews could adjust the lighting position and relocate the power station as work progressed.

Unlike conventional diesel generators, battery-powered operation produces no engine exhaust at the point of use and eliminates continuous engine noise, making it particularly suitable for urban night construction.

Less Setup, More Flexibility for Night Operations

From temporary lighting installation to ongoing excavation work, SOFIMO industrial portable power stations offer a flexible solution for metro construction sites.

For example, the PS-4800T features a 2,662Wh battery and 3,500W rated AC output, providing a theoretical runtime of approximately 26.5 hours for a single 100W LED light, before accounting for conversion losses and other operating conditions.

By reducing long cable runs and simplifying temporary power arrangements, portable battery power helps crews deploy lighting more efficiently while avoiding additional generator noise.

Faster Lighting Setup. Less Cabling. More Time for the Job.

This project demonstrates how SOFIMO industrial portable power stations support night construction, municipal maintenance, and other field operations requiring reliable, flexible temporary lighting.
