During an oilfield repair project in Northwest China, the SOFIMO ES-6000 Industrial Portable Welding Power Station was transported to the wellsite to support on-site welding, maintenance, and power tool operation.
With maintenance locations spread across remote areas, fixed power infrastructure cannot reach every worksite. Traditional solutions often require long cables or diesel generators, increasing setup time and costs.
The crew integrated the ES-6000 into their mobile repair equipment, bringing welding and AC power directly to the jobsite for faster deployment and greater flexibility.
Oilfield repair locations can be spread across a wide operating area. Electrical infrastructure may serve production equipment without providing a convenient connection for maintenance work.
Connecting to a distant distribution point requires cable routing and access arrangements. Using an engine-driven generator introduces fuel supply and engine operation into the setup.
The SOFIMO Welding Integrated Portable Power Station ES-6000 combines battery storage and welding capability in one unit. With sufficient charge for the task, it supplies welding power without a mains connection or a fuel-powered generator.
For field crews, this provides more flexibility in arranging equipment around the repair location.
The ES-6000 was transported with the crew’s tools and welding leads, making power preparation part of the mobilization process.
Before departure, the team can check battery charge, prepare accessories, and confirm that the equipment matches the planned work. On arrival, setup can be organized around the permitted work area and site conditions.
This approach fits the way many oilfield service crews operate: personnel and equipment travel together, and the power source moves with them between assignments.
The practical value is straightforward: bring welding power with the crew, ready to support the work at the wellsite.
The full scope of an emergency repair may only become clear after inspection. Available battery capacity therefore matters alongside welding output.
The ES-6000 is available with a 20.72 kWh NCM battery or a 24.115 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Both configurations provide more than 20 kWh of stored energy for welding and compatible auxiliary loads.
An adjustable 10–200 A welding current range allows settings to be selected for the workpiece and welding procedure. Product reference data for the 20.72 kWh NCM model indicates approximately 366 electrodes of 3.2 mm diameter per full charge.
Field repairs often involve more than welding. Joint preparation, grinding, and task lighting may also require electricity.
Alongside its welding capability, the ES-6000 provides 220 V AC output rated up to 5,000 W for compatible tools and equipment.
Welding and AC output can operate simultaneously within the system’s specified load limits.
For a service crew, this offers a way to organize welding and supporting tool power around one unit, reducing the need for separate power sources where the application allows.
During battery operation, the ES-6000 requires no combustion engine. It therefore produces no engine exhaust or engine noise at the point of use and requires no on-site refueling while supplying power.
Welding fumes and tool noise still need to be managed, but the power source itself adds no running fuel engine to the work area.
In this project, ES-6000 became part of the crew’s mobile repair equipment: transported by truck, deployed around the task, and used to support welding and site power needs.
