Industry: Municipal Construction
Application: Sidewalk Paving and Stone Cutting
Equipment: SOFIMO PS-4800T Industrial Portable Power Station

Sidewalk improvement projects need to balance construction progress with pedestrian access and the surrounding urban environment. At this municipal paving project in Nanjing Gao Hu, the SOFIMO PS-4800T supplied power to a worker’s 110 mm stone cutter for on-site trimming of paving slabs.

The work involved repeated measuring, cutting, trial fitting, and adjustment. The power supply needed to accommodate this intermittent workflow while limiting its impact on workers and nearby public areas.

Cutting Requires Power. The Power Supply Can Be Quieter.

Paving slabs often need trimming to fit around kerbs, tree pits, and pavement edges. Operators work close to the noise generated by the cutter and its blade. A fuel-powered generator running nearby would add another source of noise.

Powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery, the PS-4800T supplies electricity without a combustion engine, avoiding continuous engine noise from the power source.

Supporting the cutting work while removing this additional noise source was a key benefit of the application.

For the crew, this can reduce additional noise exposure. For municipal projects near roads and public spaces, it also supports efforts to limit construction disturbance. The cutter itself still produces noise, so appropriate noise reduction and hearing protection remain important.

Approximately 10.4 Hours of Reference Runtime

The PS-4800T offers a reference operating time of approximately 10.4 hours with a 110 mm stone cutter. With intermittent cutting, one full charge may support around one to two working days, depending on the crew’s workload and actual tool use.

Sidewalk paving does not involve continuous cutting. Workers measure each section, cut slabs as required, then return to fitting and laying. The cutter starts and stops with the task, while battery power remains available without an engine idling between operations. This makes the power supply well suited to the alternating tasks involved in paving work.

Power Close to the Paving Area

The PS-4800T was positioned near the stone-cutting area and connected to the cutter by cable. This arrangement supported on-site trimming while reducing reliance on long supply cables from a distant fixed power point.

Its wheeled design and pull handle allow the crew to reposition the unit where ground and access conditions permit. As paving progresses, the power supply can move with the tools to support trimming and finishing at different locations.

A Quieter Power Option for Urban Improvement Work

In this application, the PS-4800T powered the stone cutter while avoiding combustion-engine noise and exhaust from the power source, helping improve conditions around the work area.

For SOFIMO, effective site power means supporting both the task and the people carrying it out. This sidewalk paving project demonstrates how battery-powered equipment can serve everyday construction needs while reducing the additional disturbance associated with fuel-powered generation.
